a little corner all for me

Some day I'd like to have a whole room all to myself. Selfish, I know. I want a space to do sewing and a space to scrapbook and a space for curriculum planning. There will be a comfy place to sit and read and sip countless cups of tea. The walls will be filled with photos and artwork and all those things that make me smile or think or feel happy. It will be a room that I can leave all my mess out when I'm in the middle of something and close the door and it will be there when I return. It will be organized and pretty and all mine. Someday.

But for now, I have to make do with the space I have. Which is not much at all. I wedged a makeshift desk in a corner near the basement door. It's got a file cabinet and I use cubes from the Mill Store as cubbies for all my stuff. One cubby houses my quilting books. Another corrals art supplies and picture books. Scrapbooks in progress fill yet another. My cameras are stashed in yet another cubby and next to them a huge drum of pretzels (which I really don't care for at all...unless they have been covered in chocolate) but behind that drum of pretzels is a secret stash of Hershey Kisses. In case of emergency, don't you know. I have to sit on the floor in my little corner because there really isn't room for a chair. I have adorned the walls and top surface of the cubbies with some of my favorite things. And this makes me happy. It makes me happy to be in that space even if it isn't all that I want. Apparently, it's enough.

I'm so going to blab about your secret stash! I don't need my own room, more like my own house!!! LOL

I agree with Jess! :) I converted our "spare" room into my craft room and it still doesn't feel like enough space (granted it's a little room). I just told Tommy that someday I want a house with an actual studio above a detatched garage--I have it all figured out! ;) We all must have our own little corners, though--and your's is much more organized than mine (that's the problem with having a door that can shut! ;)

Oh Marie, I yearn for the same thing too!!! Dreams are good to have. And one day they might even come true!

LOL! Jess, my secret stash is not quite so secret anymore...Katie discovered it.

I'm so jealous Liz of your craft room!

I will keep on dreaming Kim, so when the opportunity does arise, I'll know exactly what I want. :)

Thanks Jessica...nothing happier than children's artwork.
